Rep. Sean Roberts (R-Hominy) gave the following statement regarding the passage of House Bill 3967:
“I was proud to serve as a co-author of this bill and feel that Oklahoma should always stand with Israel, one of our valued trade partners. Oklahoma should not do business with companies or people that hold anti-semitic values like we see demonstrated by the BDS movement. This measure is a step in the right direction for our state to ensure that this does not happen and to further solidify our relationship with the country of Israel.”
HB3967 recognizes Israel as one of Oklahoma’s top trade partners and the United States’ greatest ally in the Middle East. It specifies that unless exempted by the secretary of state, the state of Oklahoma will not enter into contracts with companies that advocate boycotts, divestments or sanctions (BDS) against Israel.
The bill passed the House 75-20 and is now available to be considered by the Senate.
