Minority Leader Stands Up for State Workers in Response to Stitt EO

OKLAHOMA CITY – House Minority Leader Emily Virgin, D-Norman, released the following statement today in response to Gov. Kevin Stitt’s executive order continuing the freeze of classified employment positions.

“The governor’s executive order regarding state employees is an attack on the rights of our already underpaid and overworked state workers,” Virgin said. “There are more than 23,000 Oklahoma workers that are designated as classified employees. I would hope that in the future, the governor would spend less time on how to replace them and more time on how to help them. Our state workers are not the problem. The decisions that have taken place at 23rd and Lincoln over the past 10 years are the problem, and this executive order is no exception.”
