Biographical Information

Chair: Insurance Committee
Member of: Elections & Ethics, Transportation and Appropriations & Budget - Judiciary Subcommittee.

Lewis lives in East Edmond near Pop’s and Route 66. He earned degrees from New Mexico Military Institute and the University of Arkansas. He also has a Risk Management Certification from Texas A & M.

Lewis served as a Field Artillery Officer in the Arkansas National Guard, U.S. Army on Active Duty and the U.S. Army Reserves in the 95th Division as a Basic Training Commander.

Lewis has worked in the insurance industry for 30 years and has served on numerous committees with the Tulsa and OKC Health Underwriters, the National Council of Insurance Legislators and American Legislative Exchange Council. Lewis has worked in the property and casualty insurance market with businesses and associations to improve their workplace safety and marketability.

Lewis has taught insurance continuing education classes around the state and is passionate about promoting free enterprise and limited constitutional government.

As an Eagle Scout, Lewis has worked with his two sons and many other scouts, as assistant scoutmaster and merit badge counselor, to help them earn their Eagle Scout rank. Lewis enjoys the outdoors and the challenges the sport of backpacking brings. He has participated in two scouting 10 day backpacking expeditions to Philmont Scout Ranch with his sons’ crews from Edmond, Oklahoma.

Lewis has championed bicycling in the State of Oklahoma through driver’s education, safety laws, and creating several historic biking trails, namely The Historic Route 66 Bike Trail, The Chisolm Trail Historic Bike Trail and The Trail of Tears Historic Bike Trail. Lewis enjoys riding his mountain bike and road bike in preparation for the Hotter Then Hell 100 at the end of each summer.

Lewis has served on the Oklahoma City and Edmond Trails Committees to create walking, running and cycling trails and sidewalks throughout the metro.

Lewis is married and has four children.
