OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Ajay Pittman (Seminole Nation citizen), D-Oklahoma City, released the following statement regarding the Oklahoma House of Representatives 72-16 vote to override the veto of SB26X.

“I am certainly pleased with the vote to override SB26X during special session, in order to provide a one year extension at the same 50/50 agreement rate,” said Rep. Ajay Pittman, co-chair of the Oklahoma Native American Caucus and Joint State and Tribal committee member.

“The extension of the tribal compact agreements will increase economic development for our tribes who are affected by the expiration date this year. Our vote demonstrates the legislature’s goal to focus on strengthening the state's relationships with our tribes."
