Pfeiffer Comments on Passing of Marlin "Ike" Glass Jr.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. John Pfeiffer today commented on the death of Marlin “Ike” Glass Jr., of Newkirk.
Glass was a member of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, a veteran and businessman who served 18 years on the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education after being appointed to his first term in 1997.
"The state of Oklahoma lost a treasure in Ike Glass," Pfeiffer said. "Mr. Glass was a dedicated, selfless public servant who gave back so much to the state he loved. His impact was felt far and wide. He had a wealth of real-world experience and could be counted on to give wise counsel and genuine friendship to all who knew and loved him. I'm certainly praying for his family during this time of grief. He will be greatly missed by so many people. His input and experience has been invaluable to me, and I will miss his advice."
Glass graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in personnel administration. He went on to lead his family's business, Glass Trucking Company, and also served two nine-year terms on the board of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. Glass was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2009 and the OSU Hall of Fame in 2018.
He died today at the age of 89.
